Meet Jesse Contreras, Team 'On The Board’s' Leader

I had a really enjoyable time interviewing Jesse, one of our sales team leaders, and I am excited to share the details of the interview.

How long have you been in the insurance industry?

I started out in the insurance industry when I was 18, so I’ve been with the industry for over 20 years.

I heard that you are known as the juggernaut? What are some tips or secrets that you have?

I love it, I love it! Juggernaut hahaha! My advice would be, to be honest and consistent with the customers. I would always give every single customer a 125% and treat them equally, no matter what their age or gender is. They will appreciate that and whether or not they decide to buy the policy today, they will call you back if you are honest with them and provide them with the best rate that you possibly can. At times, it also helps if you give them a couple of options to choose from.

Where did you grow up and do you have any siblings?

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, California, and I grew up with 2 beautiful sisters.

What are some interesting facts about yourself?

I’m pretty transparent, and I love giving to charity anonymously, and I feel really good about that. I do a lot of charity, but I do not expect anything in return. It is just something that I feel like doing, and it helps people. Giving back to society and hearing people’s laughter makes me happy. (You’re a great man Jesse!)

If you could go back in time to any day in history or time period, what would it be and why?

I would probably go back a couple of years when my mom was still around. I lost her to cancer all of a sudden, and I would love to go back in time and spend one more day with her because there are things that I didn’t get the opportunity to get off my chest. Hate to be a downer, but that’s what I will do * chuckle *.

What would your dream vacation be?

It would be going to Ireland because I’ve been wanting to go there for several years, and hopefully, I will be able to go there soon. (It’s a beautiful place! Would love to go there too!)

What’s your favorite sports team and why?

Definitely LA Lakers and Dodgers. I grew up in the Magic Johnson era for the Lakers and the Fernando Valenzuela days for the Dodgers, and I've been hooked to these teams ever since. They haven’t won in a while, but I’m still a Lakers and Dodgers fan at heart.

What is something that drives you crazy?

Negativity. Someone that is negative just drives me insane. I just love being around positive people, having conversations and laughing with them.

What constitutes a perfect day?

A perfect day would be waking up in the morning to walk my dogs; then making breakfast for my family sitting at the table together. Maybe watch a game in the afternoon and having my daughter hang out with me would make it absolutely perfect.

What brought you to CoverHound and what motivates you to come to CoverHound everyday?

Greg Isaacs. He has been a good friend, and I worked with him in the past. He reached out to me when CoverHound first started, but I only called him a year later to see if there was still any opening. After hearing what CoverHound is about and what he was trying to build, I loved it.

The thing that motivates me to come to CoverHound would be because I just love selling insurance, helping people and helping them save money. There is a sense of satisfaction when the customers say “Thank you!” and “You were fantastic!”. It makes me more motivated to want to do my best. And of course everyone here makes me come to work because we gel as a team, and that’s what makes CoverHound special.

Hopefully I’m not too boring *chuckle*. You know it’s easier for me to praise someone than talk about myself. It feels kinda weird.

No worries Jesse! You were absolutely amazing, and I really enjoyed listening to your stories and thank you for being such an asset to CoverHound! Cheers to Jesse and Team On The Board! :)
