Ahh, summertime! Isn’t it just the best? You know what’s even better? A summer road trip. Just imagine it now---the windows down, the sunroof open and that perfect summer song as your soundtrack. We all love a great road trip, and being prepared can make for a smooth journey. Here are CoverHound's tips to make your trip stress free.
Map Your Route
Summer is the most common season for road work and detours, so be prepared and plan your driving route to avoid surprises and being stuck in traffic for extended periods of time. Standstill traffic is the worst!
Have a GPS System
Whether it is built into your car, or you need to download an app, have a GPS system ready to go and familiarize yourself with it beforehand. My favorite is Apple Maps on my iphone.
Pre-Trip Car Maintenance
Also, always carry cash in case of tolls and pack snacks and water, especially for driving through more remote locations. You never know when your next stop will be.
Car Insurance
You knew it was coming. Make sure you have auto insurance and that you carry your id cards with you---especially in case there is an accident, you’ll want to have all your information handy.
Bring great music!
Ok, so maybe great music isn’t essential for your safety, but it is key to having a good time on the open road! Plus, if you make great playlists, you won’t be distracted by choosing your music, and less distractions are always a good thing.
