Let me first start this blog post by letting you know, this isn’t fully about insurance, but don’t leave just yet. Last week I attended the Social Media Marketing World Conference in sunny San Diego--well, somewhat sunny. The weather wasn’t as great as I had hoped for from Southern California, but San Diego was beautiful, nonetheless. Plus, who doesn’t love the fish tacos there? :)
The conference kicked off with a party on the USS Midway, a large aircraft carrier on the San Diego Harbor. There I got to check out aircraft from World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam--pretty cool! Obviously, I had to sit in one of the planes and test it out!
The next day 2 days, it was straight to business. I wanted to hear some of my favorite social media experts speak such as Laura Fitton and Amy Porterfield and have them teach me how to be a better marketer. Both left me filled with insight and a renewed excitement for this blog and my social media efforts for CoverHound.
There definitely were some common themes. Reaching out to your customers and prospects through a blog and social is just like real life. There’s a lot of noise out there, and people want you to provide use to them. If you are going to be a connection, you better be worth their time. This is my hope for this blog--that I can strive to make it more useful and give you the tips you need to shop for insurance smarter, manage your policies’ better and save more money.
