Drea-ea-ea-ea-eam, dream, dream, dream.
A girl can dream, right? Right! And that's exactly what I do. I dream about the cars I'd buy if I came into a million dollars. I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who does this. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who scours the web for performance and rating details, either. But does anyone check to see how much it would cost to insure said dream car? Unlikely. So I've decided to get rates for one dream car a week!
Week One's dream car is the 2011 Audi R8 5.2 V10. Why did I choose this specific model? Glad you asked! First off, it's powerful. So powerful that the engine's used in a race car. As far as dream cars go, you gotta go fast. Second reason can be summed up in two words: custom handling. That's right, the driver can choose between "normal" and "sport." And last (but definitely not least), notice the custom paint. Samoa orange, with black interior. I'm a huge fan of orange and black (I blame it on my alma mater)! So what will this car cost me? Just around $160,000. Ouch!

I would like to go with something a little more than minimum or basic coverage (this is one of my dream cars). Superior coverage looks good to me. And for roughly $280 a month I get primary coverage of $100k/$300k bodily injury limits, $50,000 property damage, $1,000 medical payments, $100k/$300k uninsured motorist, with a $500 collision deductible, a $500 comprehensive deductible, and $75/day towing and labor!
All in all, not bad. Car insurance is definitely something to think about before you buy a car. Especially if it's your dream car! Check back next week for another look into my diary of dream cars (and their insurance costs)!
